7789-31-3 Usage

Description

Bromic acid is an unstable compound that is colorless or slightly yellowish in appearance. It is stable only in very dilute aqueous solutions and turns yellow upon standing. Bromic acid decomposes when heated to 100°C and acts as an oxidizing agent.

Uses

Used in Dye Industry:
Bromic acid is used as an oxidizing agent for the production of dyes. Its ability to oxidize other compounds makes it a valuable component in the synthesis of various dye products.
Used in Chemical Synthesis:
Due to its oxidizing properties, bromic acid can be employed in the synthesis of other chemicals and compounds, where oxidation is a necessary step in the process.
Please note that the provided materials do not mention any specific applications of bromic acid in different industries. The uses listed above are inferred from the chemical properties of bromic acid.

Preparation

Bromic acid is prepared by adding sulfuric acid to barium bromate.Ba(BrO3)2 + H2SO4 → 2HBrO3 + BaSO4The product is distilled and absorbed in water. A 50% solution may be obtained by slow evaporation of the dilute solution in vacuum at -12°C.

Hazard

Contact with skin and eyes can cause severe irritation.

Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 7789-31-3 includes 7 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 4 digits, 7,7,8 and 9 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 3 and 1 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 7789-31:
(6*7)+(5*7)+(4*8)+(3*9)+(2*3)+(1*1)=143
143 % 10 = 3
So 7789-31-3 is a valid CAS Registry Number.
