4-Pyrimidinamine, also known as 2-(chloromethyl)- (9CI), is a chemical compound that is involved in the production of a variety of other chemical substances. The invention relates to guanidine derivatives which are histamine H-2 antagonists and which inhibit gastric acid secretion. Processes for producing compounds of formula (I), pharmaceutical compositions containing them, methods of utilizing such compositions and intermediates useful for synthesizing compounds of formula (I) are also described.
