D,L-THREO-1-PHENYL-2-DECANOYLAMINO-3-MORPHOLINO-1-PROPANOL HCL, also known as DL-threo-PDMP, is a mixture of ceramide analogs that contains two of the four possible stereoisomers of PDMP: D-threo-(1R,2R)-PDMP and L-threo-(1S,2S)-PDMP. It is a compound that inhibits glucosylceramide synthase, reduces the synthesis of glucosylceramide, increases cellular ceramide, and induces cell cycle arrest in vitro.

Used in Pharmaceutical Industry:
D,L-THREO-1-PHENYL-2-DECANOYLAMINO-3-MORPHOLINO-1-PROPANOL HCL is used as a therapeutic agent for the treatment of neuroinflammatory diseases, such as multiple sclerosis. It is used as an inhibitor of β-1,4-galactosyltransferase 6, which prevents lactosylceramide synthesis, a promotor of neuroinflammation in mice during chronic experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE).
Used in Alzheimer's Disease Research:
D,L-THREO-1-PHENYL-2-DECANOYLAMINO-3-MORPHOLINO-1-PROPANOL HCL is used as a research tool to study the role of ceramide metabolism in Alzheimer's disease. It is used to increase amyloid-β (1-42) (Aβ42) and Aβ39 production independent of ceramide metabolism via modulation of γ-secretase activity in HEK293 cells expressing the γ-secretase substrate SC100.

D,L-THREO-1-PHENYL-2-DECANOYLAMINO-3-MORPHOLINO-1-PROPANOL HCL is used as a research tool to study the role of glucosylceramide synthase in cell biology. It is used to deplete cells and mice of their glucosphinolipids, which helps researchers understand the function and regulation of glucosylceramide synthase in cellular processes.
