1. 1,3-Butylene phosphite geometrical isomers differ in reactivity as shown by a study of reaction kinetics. 2.The reaction of 1,3-butylene phosphite geometric isomers with electrophilic reagents proceeds with retention of the configuration of the phosphorus atom thus permitting sterically controlled synthesis of complex phosphorinanes. 3.The stereochemical result of the Todd-Atherton chlorination of cyclic hydrophosphoryl compounds may be a function of the basicity of the tertiary amine used and the experimental conditions. 4.Determination of νr for the dioxaphosphorinane ring in the Raman spectrum is a promising method for finding the orientation of the phosphoryl oxygen in complex 1,3,2-dioxaphosphorinanes.
