Description

HUMAN M-CSF, also known as Macrophage Colony-Stimulating Factor, is a potent hematopoietic growth factor that acts on both progenitor and mature cells of the macrophage lineage. It is produced by a variety of cells, including lymphocytes, monocytes, fibroblasts, endothelial cells, myoblasts, and osteoblasts, and works through its receptor CSF1R (colony stimulating factor 1 receptor). The human M-CSF is reactive in murine systems, but the murine molecule exhibits no activity on human cells.

Uses

Used in Antineoplastic Applications:
HUMAN M-CSF is used as an antineoplastic agent for its role in the regulation of immune responses and its potential to target cancer cells. It can help in the development of new therapeutic strategies for cancer treatment.
Used in Anti-infective Applications:
HUMAN M-CSF is used as an anti-infective agent for its ability to stimulate the production and function of macrophages, which play a crucial role in the immune system's defense against infections.
Used in Bone Marrow Monocyte Cells:
HUMAN M-CSF is used as an initiator for the initiation of osteoclastogenesis in bone marrow monocyte cells, which is essential for bone remodeling and repair.
Used in Non-adherent Hematopoietic Cells:
HUMAN M-CSF is used as a stimulator to stimulate osteoclast differentiation in non-adherent hematopoietic cells, contributing to the maintenance of bone homeostasis.
Used in Blood-derived Stem Cells Generation:
HUMAN M-CSF is used as a growth factor for the generation of blood-derived stem cells, which have potential applications in regenerative medicine and tissue repair.

Biochem/physiol Actions

M-CSF (macrophage colony-stimulating factor) is a key regulator of cellular proliferation, differentiation, and survival of blood monocytes, tissue macrophages and their progenitor cells. M-CSF has been shown to play important roles in modulating dermal thickness, and male and female fertility. M-CSF is clinically used in the treatment of infection, malignancies and atherosclerosis. It facilitates hematopoietic recovery after bone marrow transplantation. M-CSF also works as a pleiotropic growth factor and plays a crucial role in reproduction and organogenesis. Absence of it can result in reduced growth, neurological and reproductive problems, developmental defects in the mammary gland, bone and pancreas. M-CSF is also involved in the pathogenesis of cancer.

Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 81627-83-0 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 8,1,6,2 and 7 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 8 and 3 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 81627-83:
(7*8)+(6*1)+(5*6)+(4*2)+(3*7)+(2*8)+(1*3)=140
140 % 10 = 0
So 81627-83-0 is a valid CAS Registry Number.
