83167-05-9 Usage

General Description

2,5-dinitrobenzimidazole is a chemical compound with the molecular formula C7H4N4O4. It is a yellow crystalline solid that is primarily used as a high-energy compound in explosives and propellants. 2,5-dinitrobenzimidazole is known for its high thermal stability and its ability to release a large amount of energy upon detonation. It is often used in military applications, such as in the production of explosive devices and in the formulation of rocket propellants. Due to its explosive nature, 2,5-dinitrobenzimidazole is highly regulated and controlled, and its use is limited to authorized personnel and industries that handle explosive materials.

Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 83167-05-9 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 8,3,1,6 and 7 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 0 and 5 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 83167-05:
(7*8)+(6*3)+(5*1)+(4*6)+(3*7)+(2*0)+(1*5)=129
129 % 10 = 9
So 83167-05-9 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

Potential radiosensitizing agents. 5. 2-Substituted benzimidazole derivatives

Gupta,Larroquette,Agrawal

, p. 1342 - 1346 (2007/10/02)

A series of 2-substituted benzimidazoles and their derivatives have been synthesized and tested for their ability to selectively sensitize hypoxic Chinese hamster cells (V-79) toward the lethal effect of ionizing radiation. These compounds were prepared by reacting the 2-substituted benzimidazoles with 1,2-epoxy-3-methoxypropane in the presence of potassium carbonate. Reaction of the 2-nitro and 2-methylsulfonyl analogue with the epoxide also yielded a cyclized material, which was confirmed to be a benzimidazo[2,1-b]oxazole. In an attempt to increase the electron affinity, 5- or 6-nitro-2-substituted-benzimidazoles were also synthesized and then reacted with the epoxide to yield the corresponding 1-substituted derivatives. The results of the biological tests for the radiosensitizing activity of these agents against Chinese hamster cells (V-79) in culture indicated the 2-nitro-substituted analogues were the most effective sensitizers in this series.
