Description
Oleyloxyethyl phosphorylcholine is a phospholipid derivative that acts as an inhibitor of phospholipase A2 (PLA2), a key enzyme involved in the degradation of membrane phospholipids. It has an IC50 value of 6.2 μM for porcine pancreatic PLA2, indicating its potency in inhibiting PLA2 activity.
Uses
Used in Pharmaceutical Industry:
Oleyloxyethyl phosphorylcholine is used as a therapeutic agent for various inflammatory and autoimmune diseases. Its ability to inhibit PLA2 activity helps reduce inflammation and alleviate symptoms associated with these conditions.
Used in Cosmetic Industry:
Oleyloxyethyl phosphorylcholine is used as an ingredient in cosmetic products for its skin conditioning and moisturizing properties. It helps maintain the skin's natural barrier and provides hydration, leading to improved skin health and appearance.
Used in Research Applications:
Oleyloxyethyl phosphorylcholine is used as a research tool to study the role of PLA2 in various biological processes. It aids in understanding the mechanisms of inflammation and other PLA2-mediated pathways, contributing to the development of new therapeutic strategies.
in vitro
to examine the phospholipids including oleyloxyethyl phosphorylcholine as pla2 inhibitors, the enzyme assay was employed. determinations were performed below critical micelle concentration. porcine pancreatic pla2 and phospholipid inhibitor were preincubated for 2 min at 37°c in buffer at ph 8.5. introduction of [l4c]arachidonate phosphatidylcholine initiated the enzymatic reaction, which is quenched after 5 min at 37°c. in this manner 50% inhibitor concentrations were determined for mepacrine and alkylphosphorylcholines, indicating oleyloxyethyl phosphorylcholine was an inhibitor of pla2 with an ic50 of 6.2 μm for porcine pancreatic pla2 [1].

Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 84601-19-4 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 8,4,6,0 and 1 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 1 and 9 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 84601-19:
(7*8)+(6*4)+(5*6)+(4*0)+(3*1)+(2*1)+(1*9)=124
124 % 10 = 4
So 84601-19-4 is a valid CAS Registry Number.
