Description

OPOPONAX LG 55 is an oleo-gum resin derived from the exudate of the Opopanax tree, native to Somaliland. It is obtained by making incisions on the bark, allowing the resin to ooze out and harden in the air, forming tear-shaped lumps. The crude oleoresin has a reddish-brown or yellowish-brown color and a sweet, balsamic, slightly spicy odor reminiscent of myrrh. It is also known as bisabol or sweet myrrh.

Composition

Opopanax contains 50 to 80% of a water-soluble gum, 15 to 40% alcohol soluble resin and 5 to 9% essential oil.
