9014-06-6 Usage

Description

EC 3.5.1.11, also known as penicillin amidase, is a periplasmic 80K heterodimer enzyme consisting of A and B chains (209 and 566 amino acids, respectively). It is widely distributed among microorganisms, including bacteria, yeast, and filamentous fungi, with the enzyme produced by E. coli being the most well-characterized and common for industrial applications.

Uses

Used in Antibiotic Degradation:
EC 3.5.1.11 is used as a catalyst for the release of fatty acid and HSL (homoserine lactone) from AHLs (N-acylhomoserine lactones) in the degradation of antibiotics. This application aids in the study of antibiotic resistance and the development of novel strategies to combat it.
Used in Enzyme Activity Assays:
In the study of functional analysis of bile salt hydrolase and penicillin acylase family members in Lactobacillus sp., EC 3.5.1.11 serves as a positive control for assaying penicillin G acylase activity. This helps in understanding the role and efficiency of these enzymes in various biological processes.
Used in Pharmaceutical Industry:
EC 3.5.1.11 is used as a biocatalyst for the synthesis of 6-aminopenicillanic acid from penicillin-G, which is a crucial intermediate in the production of β-lactam antibiotics. This application plays a significant role in the industrial production of various antibiotics, contributing to the development and manufacturing of life-saving drugs.

Biochem/physiol Actions

The biosynthesis of Penicillin amidase in E. coli by hydrophobic protein chromatography is an inducible reaction which is regulated by metabolized carbon source (e.g. polyols, carboxylic acid etc.). It is also influenced by catabolite repression. It catalyzes the formation of amide bonds through an acyl-enzyme intermediate.

Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 9014-06-6 includes 7 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 4 digits, 9,0,1 and 4 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 0 and 6 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 9014-06:
(6*9)+(5*0)+(4*1)+(3*4)+(2*0)+(1*6)=76
76 % 10 = 6
So 9014-06-6 is a valid CAS Registry Number.
