9027-42-3 Usage

Description

Acetate kinase is an enzyme that belongs to the acetate and sugar kinase/Hsc70/actin (ASKHA) structural superfamily. It exists as a dimer and has a nucleotide binding site in the cleft between its N and C-terminal domains. This enzyme plays a crucial role in phosphorylating acetate to acetyl phosphate, which is an essential step in various metabolic pathways.

Uses

Used in Enzyme Research:
Acetate kinase is used as a research enzyme for studying allosteric activation and other enzyme kinetics. It has been utilized in experiments involving Bacillus stearothermophilus and Escherichia coli to understand the underlying mechanisms of enzyme regulation and function.
Used in Biochemical Studies:
Acetate kinase is used as a part of an ATP-regenerating system in biochemical studies. This application helps researchers investigate the kinetics of agonist-stimulated transphosphatidylation, which is vital for understanding various cellular processes.
Used in Molecular Biology:
Acetate kinase has been employed in molecular biology research to study the effects of specific genes on microbial development. For instance, it has been used to generate [32P]-acetyl phosphate, which was then used to label BldM and its mutant variants during the study of the bldM gene's impact on Streptomyces coelicolor development.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Acetate kinase plays an important role in glycolysis. Acetate kinase phosphorylates acetate in the presence of ATP and a divalent cation, which ultimately results in the production of acetyl-CoA. Acetate kinase is also involved in the metabolism of propanoate, pyruvate and taurine. Acetate Kinase from Bacillus stearothermophilus is a thermostable tetramer of identical subunits with molecular weight of 40,000 Da each. The enzyme does not have a -SH group and is composed of 36% β-structure, 21 % α-helix and 43 % unordered structure.

Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 9027-42-3 includes 7 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 4 digits, 9,0,2 and 7 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 4 and 2 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 9027-42:
(6*9)+(5*0)+(4*2)+(3*7)+(2*4)+(1*2)=93
93 % 10 = 3
So 9027-42-3 is a valid CAS Registry Number.
