Section 3 Hazard Identification
Emergency overview:
Ingestion may interfere with the oxygen carrying capacity of the blood. Contact with the
solution may be irritating to the eyes and skin. Extended exposure to the vapours may cause
irritation to the nose and throat. If heated, this product may emit toxic nitrogen oxide vapours.
Evaporation or drying of this product may result in ammonium nitrate forming, a strong oxidizer.
Primary Routes of Entry: Skin Contact and Eye Contact
Section 4 First Aid Measures
FIRST AID PROCEDURES WHEN:
In Contact With Eyes: Immediately flush eyes thoroughly for 15 minutes with running
water. Hold eyelids open during flushing. Obtain medical
attention.
In Contact With Skin: Wash with soap and water and seek medical attention if irritation
persists. Wash contaminated clothing before reuse.
Inhaled: Repeated or prolonged exposure to vapours may cause irritation to
the respiratory tract. If irritation develops, remove to fresh air and
monitor. If irritation or problems breathing persist, seek medical
attention.
Ingested: If victim is alert, give them large quantities of water or milk.
Induce vomiting and seek medical attention.

Section 5 Fire Fighting Measures
Flash Point: Not Flammable
Flammability: Not Flammable
Auto ignition Point: Not Applicable
LEL: Not Applicable
UEL: Not Applicable
Extinguishing media: Should not present a fire hazard unless evaporated to the
point of dryness. Near dryness the product will act as an
oxidizing agent, flood with water even well after the fire is
extinguished.
Special Fire Fighting Procedures: A self-contained breathing apparatus should be worn in a
fire involving the material. Toxic gas and vapor (NOBx B
fumes and ammonia) may be released by decomposition.
Explosive Data: Not explosive
Section 6 Accidental Release Measures
Contain spill using dykes or other containment methods. Prevent solution from entering waterways.
If there is local water source contamination, notify the relevant authorities. Recover any reusable
product in containers for reuse or disposal.
Section 7 Handling and Storage
Storage: Store in a cool, well-ventilated area away from combustible
materials. Store below 100??C and above the freezing temperature,
as this will cause crystallization of the product.
Handling Procedures
and Equipment: Wash thoroughly after handling. UAN is mildly corrosive to carbon
steel; avoid use of this material, unless the solution has been treated
with an inhibitor.
4
Section 8 Exposure Controls/Personal Protection
Ventilation: Use with mechanical ventilation vented directly to outside.
Eye Protection: Use chemical safety goggles and a face shield where there is
potential for eye contact.
Respiratory Protection: No respiratory protection is normally required.
Skin Protection: Chemical gloves should be used to prevent skin irritation.
Other Precautions: Safety showers and eyewashes should be close to chemical handling
area.
EXPOSURE LIMITS:
No exposure limits have been established for this product.
Section 9 Physical and Chemical Properties

Section 10 Stability and Reactivity Data
Stability: Stable
Incompatibility: UAN is corrosive to carbon steel unless inhibited.
(Materials to Avoid)
Hazardous products
