In conclusion we have developed a simple and efficient
protocol for the synthesis of ethylcyanocarbonate of vari-
ous aldehydes using commercially available DMAP as a
catalyst under solvent-free condition. Using the present
catalytic protocol, 2-naphthaldehyde as a substrate reacted
very rapidly (15 min) to form corresponding ethylcyano-
carbonate in excellent yield (95%).
