Synthesis of 4-Aryl- and 4-Heteroaryl-2-(substituted-phenylamino)thiazoles as Antitubercular Agents
A series of 4-(5-nitro-2-furyl)-2-(substituted-phenylamino)thiazoles (V), 4-(2,4,5-trichlorophenyl)-2-(substituted-phenylamino)thiazoles (VI) and 4-(di- and tri-hydroxyphenyl)-2-(substituted-phenylamino)thiazoles (VII) have been prepared and screened against M. tuberculosis (H37Rv strain). Many of these compounds show significant antitubercular activity at 1.56 μg/ml concentration.
