One Synthetic Approach of Lazabemide hydrochloride
  • One Synthetic Approach of Lazabemide hydrochloride
  • Lazabemide hydrochloride (CAS NO.: 103878-83-7), with its systematic name of 2-Pyridinecarboxamide, N-(2-aminoethyl)-5-chloro-, hydrochloride, could be produced through many synthetic methods.

Following is one of the synthesis routes: 5-Chloropyridine-2-carboxylic acid (I) reacts with N-(2-aminoethyl)carbamic acid tert-butyl ester (II) in the presence of carbonyl-dimidazole (CDI) in refluxing THF to produce N-[2-(tert-butoxycarbonylamino)ethyl]-5-chloropyridine-2-carboxamide (III), which is then hydrolyzed with trifluoroacetic acid in refluxing dichloromethane and treated with ethanolic HCl to obtain the hydrochloride.
