method complements existing strategies based on propargyl
substrates or activated allene additions to aldehydes. Therefore,
it represents a more straightforward and milder alternative.
Additionally, this method also tolerates a range of halides
containing substrates, which previously were limited employing
known methods, and thus an important advance in the field.
Finally, we note that, in addition to the presented highly
chemoselective transformation obtained under mild reactions
conditions; the reaction can be coupled to processes such as
cyclizations to give rise to synthetically useful heterocycles.

Typical procedure for the synthesis of (3a): To a flame-dried round
bottom flask containing activated 4Å molecular sieves (100 mg) was
