Chelate adducts of the general formula ML-mL1-nH2O, where m = 1 (M = Ni, Cu), 2 (M = Co, Zn, Cd), n = 0-2 were obtained for the first time by the electrochemical reaction of zero-valent metals (cobalt, nickel, copper, zinc, and cadmium) with N-(2-hydroxybenzylidene)-2-tosylaminoaniline (LH2) and 2-amino-1-methylbenzimidazole (L1). According to IR and 1H spectroscopic and preliminary x-ray diffraction data, in these adducts the L1 multidentate ligand is coordinated through the endocyclic pyridine-type nitrogen atom.
