General Description
1,2,2-Trichloro-3,3,3-trifluoropropane, also known as HCFC-225ca, is a chemical compound with the molecular formula C3H2Cl3F3. It is a colorless, volatile liquid that is used as a refrigerant and in the production of foam-blowing agents. HCFC-225ca is a highly effective blowing agent for producing closed-cell polyurethane foam insulation, and it has a relatively low global warming potential compared to other blowing agents. However, it is also a ozone-depleting substance and is being phased out due to its contribution to ozone depletion. Its use in developed countries is being phased out under the Montreal Protocol, and it is being replaced with more environmentally friendly alternatives.
