General Description

3-(R)-Piperidinyl PhthaliMide D-(-)-tartaric acid is a chemical compound consisting of the active ingredient thalidomide, which is a sedative and hypnotic drug typically used to treat insomnia and anxiety. The compound is a racemic mixture of thalidomide, meaning it contains equal amounts of both the D- and L- enantiomers. The addition of D-(-)-tartaric acid allows for the separation of the enantiomers, resulting in a pharmaceutical product with enhanced therapeutic effects. Thalidomide has been found to have immunomodulatory and anti-inflammatory properties, and has been used in the treatment of conditions such as multiple myeloma, leprosy, and certain autoimmune diseases.
